Google+ is a dying member of Web now.

Image
Finally, Google has decided to remove Google+ product for personal users.  Google says Google+ currently has “low usage and engagement” and that 90 percent of Google+ user sessions last less than five seconds. Although Google says that they will continue to support enterprise accounts.  I also got a mail this morning about the same. According to mail, In December 2018, Google announced to shut down Google+ for consumers in April 2019 due to low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product that meets consumers' expectations.  On April 2, Google will begin deleting the content from consumer google+ accounts. However, photos and videos backed up in Google Photos will not be deleted. Also it's worthwhile to mention that, a s early as February 4th, consumers will no longer be able to create new Google+ profiles, pages, communities or events . What do you think of this decision made by search giant Google? Please leave a reply.

The Best IDE to build the Perfect Electronics

Image
Want to build your own electronics...but stucked at software. Well in that condition you can use the Arduino IDE(Integrated Development Environment). It's open source so you don't need to buy it. Download the Arduino IDE . Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. There are many other microcontrollers and microcontroller platforms available for physical computing. Parallax Basic Stamp, Netmedia's BX-24, Phidgets, MIT's  Handy Board , and many others offer similar functionality. All of these tools take the messy details of microcontroller programming and wrap it up in an easy-to-use package. Arduino also simplifies the process of working with microcontrollers, but it offers some advantage for teachers, students, and interested amateurs over other systems: ~  Inexpe

YouTube increases maximum view limit!

Image
Yes, you heard it right. YouTube just has upgraded the number of maximum views for a video. They have declared it in a short post . YouTube has switched to 64 bit integer. This happened because the " PSY - GANGNAM STYLE " video has crossed the limit of 32 bit integer max view i.e. 2,147,483,647 views. From now on the max limit will be 9,223,372,036,854,775,808! Stay tune for more updates. Thank You.

Do we need a TOTAL RECALL?

Image
What if you get up from bed tomorrow morning and forgot  everything  about yourself...!!! This article’s title is crazy,  isn't  it? The idea came in my mind a few days ago when I am creating a password for an online account! In upcoming future, there may be some sort of technologies that can wipe our brain’s data or alter in such a way that we couldn’t remember our self’s identity, as shown in the movie “Total Recall” and others! Since the idea came to my mind, I changed some of the passwords that I already have for different purposes. So what I did? I just follow the rules of “Terminator 4: Rise of the Machines”. Remember? There is a scene in which Skynet’s operator i.e. the army general died and gave a catalogue in which all the passwords or you can tell the codes, for the underground safe house; are written. So, I open the notepad and started typing some random letters, numbers, symbols etc. by closing my eyes. Then I copied the string and made it the new password for

Google uncovers Poodle flaw in Web encryption standard

Image
Poodle security bug in web encryption SSL 3.0 allows hackers to steal data from email accounts, bank accounts and social networking sites. Google security engineers have uncovered a major vulnerability dubbed Poodle in Web encryption standard SSL 3.0. The bug makes browsers susceptible to hacking, but researchers state that it is not as harmful as Heartbleed or Shellshock bugs.  Google security engineers Bodo Möller, Krzysztof Kotowicz and Thai Duong stated in a report that POODLE is a new security hole in Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 3.0 that makes the 15-year-old protocol impossible to use safely and upgrading it will be difficult. “Poodle” stands for Padding Oracle On Downloaded Legacy Encryption. Security experts stated that the bug could allow hackers to steal browser “cookies,” but was not very serious. Ivan Ristic, director of application security research with Qualys and an expert in SSL stated, “It’s quite complicated. It requires the attacker to have a pri

Google Play Store 5.0 update to bring in Material Design

Image
Google will be bringing a new Material Design update to its  Play Store. Material Design will be also coming through the  Android L update Android lovers are waiting for the new  L update  and while the official launch is almost here, we bumped into an update for the Google Play Store which is dripping with the new Material Design.  Just last week we saw a similar update on the Google Play Newsstand which has the same new UI. The Google Play Store 5.0 has a new flatter icon with a shopping bag around the logo and a flat UI with all the menus flipping in like cards just like Google Now. Other than the UI, there isn’t any huge update that we have noticed. The update is not yet out but should start seeding soon.  If you want to try out the new Play Store update you can download the APK and sideload the app by copying it to your device. Here is a link to download the APK, make sure you are not running the Android L developer preview as it could harm the device.

Zuckerberg-Modi meeting to focus on Internet connectivity in India

Image
Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is in India to attend the Internet.org summit in New Delhi Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is on a two day visit to India and will meet PM Narendra Modi tomorrow to discuss the role that Facebook can play in improving Internet connectivity and e-governance in the country. Considering that India is only second to the US in terms of demanding user information from Facebook, perhaps Zuckerberg will also bring that up at the private meeting. Zuckerberg is currently in India for the Internet.org summit which will see discussions on how to increase Internet penetration in developing countries with a focus on rural outreach and affordability. Back in July, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg also visited India and met with Ravi Prasad Shankar, the IT and Communications Minister to discuss a partnership to facilitate education, healthcare and creativity among Indian youth.

IRNSS Saga

Image
India is going to launch its IRNSS 1C satellite on 15th October, 2014.It was originally scheduled to be launched on October10th, but postponed to 15th due to unknown reasons. It will be the 3rd satellite among the 7 satellites of the IRNSS program of ISRO. IRNSS stands for Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System. This means india is not going to be dependent on other country's GPS. Let's hope that it will be successful.

Microsoft to kill ‘Nokia’ and ‘Windows Phone’ brands

Image
Microsoft to kill ‘Nokia’ and ‘Windows Phone’ brands Microsoft acquired Nokia’s mobile division earlier this year, and with that it bought the rights to the ‘Lumia’ and ‘Asha’ brand names. Since Nokia still lives on as a company that no longer makes phones, Microsoft does not have ownership of the brand, but they do have the rights to use the ‘Nokia’ until the end of next year. As such, it’s no surprise that they will be phasing out the Nokia branding from their mobile phones. Infact, the  Lumia 730  and the  Lumia 830  will apparently be the last smartphones to bear the Nokia brand name on the device. Microsoft apparently does not have any new Lumia phones in the pipeline to be released until next year anyway, so we might see the first Microsoft-branded smartphones announced at MWC in February 2015, possibly running the ‘Threshold’ update that is supposed to unify Windows on a desktop and Windows Phone. To that effect, Microsoft will also be rebranding ‘Windows Phone’ and

ISRO develops India's fastest supercomputer - the GPU-architecture based SAGA-220.

Image
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has just built a new supercomputer, one that is said to be the fastest in the country, with a theoretical peak performance of up to 220 TeraFLOPS. Called SAGA-220 (Supercomputer for Aerospace with GPU Architecture-220 TeraFLOPS), the supercomputer is located in Thiruvananthapuram, at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), which houses the Satish Dhawan Supercomputing Facility. A GPU-based supercomputer, SAGA-220 stands for Supercomputer for Aerospace with GPU Architecture-220 TeraFLOPS. It is made up of 400 Nvidia Tesla 2070 workstation GPUs, and 400 Intel Xeon quad-core CPUs. The parts were supplied by Wipro, and utilise a high-speed interconnect between the components. The total cost of the system was about 14 crores, and, is apparently environmentally green, with a power consumption of about 150KW. According to the team at ISRO, the system is also very scalable, and can be made to achieve up to several PetaFLOPS. The

IBM reveals next-gen chip that delivers Supercomputer speed.

Researchers have unveiled a tiny new stamp size chip that delivers supercomputer performance using a process that mimics functions of the human brain. The "neurosynaptic" chip could open a wide new range of computing possibilities from artificial intelligence systems, self driven cars and more. The chip has been developed by researchers at IBM, Cornell Tech and iniLabs. It is a new approach in design and a significant step up from the system when it was first announced two years back. Researchers claim that the technology will lead to a future of compact cognitive computing. The Systems of Neuromorphic Adaptive Plastic Scalable Electronics or SyNAPSE chip, is capable of 256 million programmable synapses, 1 million programmable neurons and 46 billion synaptic operations per watt, per second. The new chip dubbed "TrueNorth" works to mimic the "right brain" functions of sensory processing "responding to sights, smells and information from the envi

A little about Nokia X Bug

Image
It’s quite new to see NOKIA mobiles in Android OS. Their first android phone is Nokia X. The mobile is good looking as well as stylish, and quite comfortable to hold in hand. The phone  has got mixed reviews from the mobile users. Some are seem to be happy with it, but there is a huge no. of people who  doesn't  like it at all. As per me, the phone is not bad (not good also). It’s got a nice camera in daylight; it  doesn't  capture quality photos at night or in the absence of sufficient light. The user interface is a bit slow, giving a wrong impression for regular non-Nokia Android users. Now, talking about the apps, it has got really a negative point. I have transferred a game called “Ninjump” to the Nokia X, and played. The game play is awesome….but the real tragedy is that a part of the screen shows another part of the screen. See the photos provided below to know it well. I have tried to figure out the problem, and I end up with the solution that the game should

You think Blackholes are the lone Light Suckers!!!

The Black holes are not alone…….The only light suckers! The blackest black right now is debately, a black hole. It sucks all light and obviously reflects Babaji ka thullu, but even that is debatable. In 2008,scientists contributed this world the blackest man-made object yet….yeah that’s right – the VACNT. By aligning carbon nanotubes vertically in a brush-like formation ,Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute created an object which absorbs 99.97% of all light. A light photon which does not get absorbed by one nanotube gets deflected and absorbed by another, a process which repeats until the light is completely absorbed by what the researchers have called the “forest”. Due to its nature, the VACNT with the naked eye will appear perfectly flat when in fact it is a sheet full of deep holes. Considering that the conventional black coatings or graphite generally reflect about 5% of light .99.97% absorption is pretty neat.Especially when even NASA was not able to beat it, creating a subs

Aftermath of WhatsApp's acquistion by Facebook

Image
You are possibly at the Silver age of apps world. You can realize it very well. WhatsApp’s acquisition by Facebook Inc. for a whopping $19 billion caused quite a stir not only in the Silicon Valley, but the world over .You can learn mainly two things from here. 1.If you have an interesting idea ,technology based enablers such as apps, websites or rapid prototyping can help you see your idea take shape in reality without much costs. 2.Like WhatsApp ,you don’t really have to go the advertising way  if you are providing a service that’s critical. If people want it, they’ll be willing to cough up money for it. This shows us that how much money involved in apps! In 2013, the iPhone App store raked in $6.4 billion in revenue while Android drew in significantly lower revenue of $1.2 billion. And the latest one, Windows Phone Marketplace gathered $0.95 billion .But the developers made about $0.95 per download, it is way better than Android developers ,who can make it up t
